RKOK Mourns the Loss of Sangha Member Curtis Blair
Curtis Blair is dearly loved & greatly missed. Curtis Joseph Blair (53) passed away on Friday June 17, 2011 surrounded by his loving daughters and friends. The ordinary details of his life do not describe the extraordinary attributes of a life well lived. He was always generous, compassionate, and had the ability to see and bring out the best in everyone. Curtis was everything to his daughters as they were to him. He was dearly loved and respected throughout his career by those he worked with. In his sangha community Curtis was always encouraging, helpful, considerate and a leader in all aspects; both in practical and spiritual ways.
Curtis was born Dec. 10th, 1958 in Beaufort, SC, and grew up in Gretna LA. He graduated with honors from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1982 and worked in the health insurance industry; his career spanned over 20 years with Blue Cross of Arkansas. In his last year Curtis worked for CNI (Chickasaw Nation Industries), changing employers so that he could remain close to his daughters and Dharma Center Sangha.
The Blair family conducted services to honor and celebrate the life of Curtis on June 26th in Harvey, LA. The Buddhist service and second memorial will be held July 28th at Rissho Kosei-kai Dharma Center, 2745 NW 40th, in Oklahoma City, OK.
